JOB SUMMARY:

The VP of Quality will be an experienced and visionary leader who can lead and oversee all aspects of quality assurance and food safety within our dairy co-manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will ensure the highest standards of product quality, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Reporting to the CFO/COO, the VP of Quality will partner closely with cross-functional leaders – to include the CEO, Chief Growth Officer, and VP Supply Chain - to drive Good Culture’s commitment to delivering exceptional products to our customers. The VP of Quality will lead by engaging, coaching, and developing a team; ensuring all programs and priorities are aligned to deliver the highest standards of quality and food safety aligned with Good Culture’s business objectives and regulatory requirements.

This leader will guide their team towards continued functional excellence while collaborating exceptionally well in a small, dedicated, hands-on, cross-functional leadership team focused on results, accountability, and team-development. They will nurture and cultivate a mindset focused on rapid growth and establish a culture of high performance.

This leader must have experience in a dairy/refrigerated short shelf-life product environment. They should have extensive experience in establishing standards for excellence in quality across a diverse set of manufacturing partners and demonstrate a genuine obsession with quality that gives the leadership team confidence in their ability to continuously deliver at the highest standards to our customers and fans.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead a high-performing quality team by providing strategic direction, mentorship, support, and hands-on involvement.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive quality and food safety strategy aligned with Good Culture’s business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure quality assurance and control, through KPIs and exceptional auditing and food safety practices in accordance with dairy manufacturing best practices through our co-manufacturing network.
  • Engage in robust standard setting across our co-manufacturing network, to ensure the perfect cup, every time of Good Culture products, meet the expectations of our customers and fans.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and improve product quality and operational processes.
  • Ensure rigorous testing and inspection protocols across all production stages to uphold product integrity.
  • Lead and deliver continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality standards and operational efficiency across our co-manufacturing network.
  • Support a quality team that is responsible for ongoing oversight of our co-manufacturing network, through training and continuous improvement strategies.
  • Ensure leadership in the monitoring, auditing, and approval of facilities and manufacturing operations for conformance with established procedures and requirements. Ensure that all SQF pre-requisite programs are being executed to ensure quality for our product.
  • Play the central leadership role in quality with internal stakeholders and external stakeholders, addressing all quality and food safety matters for the company.
  • Act as the primary quality liaison with customers, addressing concerns and building trust in our processes and products.
  • Lead all quality-related risk management response efforts. Lead investigations and root cause analyses for quality incidents, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Develop and oversee recall plans and mock recall exercises with our co-manufacturing partners to ensure readiness for potential product quality issues.
  • Manage risk assessments and implement controls to minimize quality and food safety risks.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in quality assurance/food safety, in a dairy/refrigerated short shelf-life product environment.
  • Extensive expertise and knowledge of food safety systems, regulatory compliance, audits, certifications, and industry best practices.
  • Expertise in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies is a plus.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence at all organizational levels.
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to build strategic relationships with external partners supporting the manufacturing, packing and logistics operations in our supply chain.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • Demonstrates a genuine, authentic and undeniable passion for quality, as evidenced through proven leadership at previous employers.
  • Travel up to 50%. Travel throughout our co-manufacturing network is required.
