In addition, this role will focus on managing the operational aspects of commercial innovation, ensuring seamless execution from concept to launch. This person will play a key role in new product and packaging initiatives through our Stage-Gate process, ensuring on-time launches that meet brand, consumer, and financial expectations. This is a high-impact position for someone who thrives on structure, collaboration, accountability, and who enjoys leading projects.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational and Capital Project Execution

  • Manage large-scale capital initiatives, equipment installations, capacity ramp-ups, and co-manufacturing partnerships
  • Own project financials: develop and track capital budgets, monitor actuals vs. plan, and ensure adherence to scope and spend controls
  • Track key project metrics including spend, schedule variance, and value realization against business case expectations
  • Coordinate with internal engineering, plant operations, and external partners (design/build firms, OEMs, contractors) to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant project delivery
  • Organize startup readiness, including validation, commissioning, operator training, and transition to steady-state production

Innovation and Commercial Project Leadership

  • Lead end-to-end project management of all operational aspects of new product development and innovation projects from concept through commercialization using a Stage-Gate framework
  • Partner closely with Marketing, Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, & Quality to ensure successful, on-time product launches
  • Build and maintain detailed project plans that include timelines, budgets, milestones, and risk mitigation strategies
  • Ensure projects align with overall business strategy and cost targets
  • Facilitate clear communication, manage cross-functional alignment, and keep stakeholders informed at every stage

PMO Governance and Portfolio Management

  • Promote consistent use of project management tools, templates, and best practices across the organization
  • Lead Stage-Gate meetings and ensure documentation, reporting, and decision processes meet PMO standards
  • Maintain visibility of the full project portfolio, including project health, interdependencies, and resource needs
  • Provide clear, concise updates to senior leadership on project status, risks, and key milestones.
  • Identify opportunities to improve project processes and communication across teams

JOB QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Supply Chain, Food Science, or a related field. A concentration in Project Management is preferred
  • PMP certification or equivalent preferred
  • Familiarity with Stage-Gate innovation process is required
  • A Master’s degree or MBA is an asset, but not required
  • At least five to ten years of progressive project management experience in the CPG industry, ideally in food and cultured dairy manufacturing
  • Proven ability to lead both commercial innovation projects such as new products and packaging, and large operational or capital projects
  • Strong background in managing budgets, schedules, and cross-functional teams
  • Experience working in food manufacturing environments, with dairy experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated success in fast-paced, high-growth companies
  • Strong business and financial acumen, with experience managing capital budgets and ROI & ROIC analysis
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and influence skills at all levels of the organization
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Proficiency in project management tools such as MS Project or Smartsheet
  • Adaptable, proactive, and comfortable navigating ambiguity
  • Passionate about food, manufacturing, and continuous improvement
