Quality Assurance Specialist
LOCATION: Mt. Pleasant, MI (Hybrid)

JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist to join our growing Food Safety and Quality Team under our Partner Excellence Pillar. This role will play a key part in supporting the commissioning and ongoing operations and quality systems at our Contract Manufacturer. The position requires a strong attention to detail, willingness to learn, on-site presence, and the ability to collaborate with both internal teams and external plant personnel to support alignment and execution across manufacturing activities.
The QA Specialist will support efforts to ensure that all Good Culture products manufactured at this site meet our quality standards, regulatory requirements, “gold standard” expectations, and production goals.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support communication between Good Culture and our Contract Manufacturer to help ensure safety, quality, and operational expectations are met
- Assist in reviewing production plans and coordinating with the co-man team to support proper material and inventory levels
- Support key operational tasks such as production scheduling, and daily production reporting
- Support training efforts with co-man teams on Good Culture SOPs, sensory expectations, and Critical to Quality parameters
- Perform sensory analysis on co-man retain samples and use observations to identify potential customer complaint and processing issues. Perform shelf-life studies on retain product
- Monitor and help reinforce adherence to key manufacturing SOPs, including testing protocols, sanitation practices, palletizing, and storage
- Assist with complaint investigations and CAPA activities, including data gathering and follow-up actions
- Participate in regular co-manufacturing meetings, helping identify potential risks and areas for improvement
- Partner closely with co-man resources to optimize current practices and reduce non-conformance incidences.
- Participate in audits and routine monitoring activities at partner facilities
- Fulfill sales requests including shipping gold standard products and packaging samples to conferences, existing and potential new customers, stores, etc.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- B.S. in Food Science or related scientific field
- 1+ years of food safety, quality, regulatory, and/or R&D manufacturing experience required (Sanitation/CIP knowledge a strong plus)
- Experience with Cottage Cheese or other dairy products manufacturing (PMO Grade A, and cultured dairy production knowledge is a plus)
- Food Safety Certifications preferred but not required including: HACCP, SQF, PCQI, Internal Auditor, Food Defense, Continuous Improvement/Six Sigma, etc. (must be willing to become certified)
- Experience with root cause investigations, and developing and implementing preventive & corrective actions
- Demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of internal and external organizations
- Ability to work independently & autonomously but also to know when to reach out for support
- Ability to build relationships with co-man teams and other internal functions
- Ability to experiment, assess risk, and make data-based recommendations and decisions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Computer proficiency, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint with statistical knowledge and its application a bonus
