WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE
This job contributes to Evolution Fresh success by driving tractors and yard hostlers to move trailers -53’ ft., flatbeds, bulk double citrus trailers and other material containers within the shipping yard, and between plant and off-site facilities based on shipping schedules, order volume and other business requirements. Models and acts in accordance with Evolution Fresh guiding principles.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Moves trailers as needed within the yard to facilitate loading and unloading. Shuttles trailers to and from off-site facilities based on business requirements.
- Delivers orders to customer accounts within specified region while meeting on time delivery metrics.
- Maintains delivery expense receipts and completes timely and accurate expense reports.
- Performs routine safety pre/post trip inspection of yard hostler, tractors, and trailers, including safety checks, reefer temperature checks and fueling, adhering to applicable regulations and procedures.
- Reports all maintenance and safety issues, concerns, and conditions to shift lead or supervisor.
- Complete and maintain accurate driver logs per D.O.T rules and regulations.
- Coordinates with shipping, receiving and production supervisors and leads regarding workload requirements and needs.
- Coordinates equipment maintenance and rotation with supervisor and vendor.
- Works with manager to identify future equipment needs and specifications.
- Understands and follows established safety guidelines, programs, and procedures; and actively works to prevent safety incidents.
- Maintains product quality through adherence to good manufacturing practices, Food Safety Preventative Controls, product specifications, legality, and quality procedures.
- Performs other duties as needed in support of business objectives and Evolution Fresh mission & values.
- Maintains regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
ADDITIONAL REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to follow verbal and written directions.
- Safety and quality focus while performing work duties.
- Ability to understand written policies and guidelines, specifications, and safety standards.
- Ability to work in accordance with safety, quality and sanitation standards, policies, and procedures.
- Available to work variable hours to support business needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with 5 years of experience operating commercial over-the-road tractor-trailer combinations, including backing, coupling/uncoupling, and performing routine inspections.
- Current Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- Knowledge of D.O.T. rules and regulations.
- Maintain driver medical evaluation with DMV.
- Safe driving record, in accordance with established Evolution Fresh guidelines
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Familiarity with food safety regulatory requirements and global standards including Preventive Controls for Human Food (FDA Code of Federal Regulations) and the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI).
- Experience with the GFSI certification schemes (i.e. BRC and/or or SQF)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS:
- Ability to travel ~5-10% of time
- Must be able to sit for an extended period of time during work
- Occasional (up to 25% of time) able to lift up to 50 lbs
HOURS & WORKDAYS:
- 1st Shift (1:00am to 9:30am) and/or (4:30am to 1:00pm); Weekends, overtime, and rotating days off schedule will be mandatory based on business and department needs.
