WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE
This role contributes to Health Ade’s success by overseeing shift manufacturing and production operations, with a strong emphasis in sanitation. The supervisor will ensure all sanitation processes meet regulatory and company standards while supporting production and maintenance teams to maintain efficient plant operations.
JOB DUTIES:
Sanitation Oversight (Primary)
- Lead and support sanitation team members to ensure all cleaning and sanitation tasks are completed
- Directs and monitors all sanitation workers and schedules sanitation activities in accordance with the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS)
- Drives the engagement, development, and performance of all members of their team
- Directs SSOP program and master sanitation program; directly verifies compliance by the sanitation crew, reviews and maintains all documentation
- Provides or coordinates on-going training and ensures development of the sanitation crew to ensure that sanitation partners possess active working knowledge of all sanitation and cleaning procedures
- Execute and support CIP, COP, and external sanitation activities per approved procedures
- Ensures cleaning/sanitation chemicals and tools are being used safely, correctly, and effectively
- Works with the Production Manager to identify resource needs
- Controls the Sanitation Department budgets by properly utilizing resources and developing cost-savings ideas
- Participates in selection, discipline, evaluation and development of department members
- Ordering of required supplies for sanitation processes
- Assists the Quality Assurance Department with inspection and testing activities through stages of the manufacturing processes to ensure internal and regulatory standards are met.
- Collaborates with QA, Production, and Maintenance staff to solve food safety and quality issues
- Maintains product quality through adherence to good manufacturing practices, Food Safety Preventative Controls, product specifications and quality procedures.
- Monitors and documents quality measures using analytical tools
- Demonstrates and understands safety as our core value and follows the key essentials to safety as set forth by our safety resolution; coaches others to do the same
- Understand and follows established safety guidelines, consistently complies with all safety procedures (e.g. PPE, Lock Out Tag Out)
- Reinforces safe practices to other team members and provides coaching when witness to unsafe practices
- Acts as a safety change agent (e.g. CPR/First Aid certification; active engagement in safety committee, drives safety initiatives for department)
- Performs other duties as needed in support of business objectives and Health-Ade Mission & Values
- Maintains regular and consistent attendance and punctuality
- Responsible for onboarding and training of sanitation employees, including MSS expectations, chemical safety, CIP/COP basics, and external cleaning standards
- Assist with internal and external audits (GMP, SQF, FDA, customer) by providing documentation and operational support
Maintenance Support
- Provide leadership and guidance to maintenance technicians during the 3rd shift
- Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and perform basic repairs or adjustments
- Collaborate with maintenance to prioritize repairs and preventative maintenance tasks that impact sanitation or production readiness
- Ensure all equipment cleaning and maintenance tasks are coordinated to minimize downtime
Production Support
- Support production teams to ensure lines are ready for start-up after sanitation completion
- Communicate operational status, sanitation coverage, and maintenance issues to production and leadership teams
- Assist in monitoring production metrics and identifying operational bottlenecks related to sanitation or equipment
Environmental & Compliance Oversight
- Manage environmental program and communicate potential wastewater or discharge concerns to QA or site leadership
- Write and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in accordance with Controlled Documents Policy
- Ensure only approved sanitation chemicals and tools are used
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Other duties as assigned.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required, with 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, food production, or sanitation
Experience leading or training teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Master Sanitation Schedules (MSS) and sanitation documentation systems
- Exposure to food safety programs such as GMPs, SQF, or FDA-regulated environments
- Experience supporting pre-op inspections or sanitation verifications
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs. in an occasional manner.
- Must be able to grasp with fingers and hand for extended periods of time in a repetitive motion.
- Must be able to use 3-points of contact when climbing or descending stairs.
- Must be able to stoop, bend at knees, and/or crouch in a repetitive manner.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to work in environmental exposure including, but not limited to, freezer and noisy, cold, wet, or humid conditions of 34°F or below.
- Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic, and/or caustic chemicals.
- Occasional material exposure to moving mechanical parts and equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.).
HOURS & WORKDAYS:
- 3rd Shift – Monday through Saturday from 7:00pm to 3:30am; 6-day workweek schedule, weekends, overtime, holidays, and/or rotating shift and day off schedules may be mandatory based on business and departmental needs.
