WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE
This role contributes to Evolution Fresh success by ensuring product quality information is provided to all necessary parties, samples are maintained, and raw materials have complete traceability to the finished product. Models and acts in accordance with Evolution Fresh guiding principles.
JOB DUTIES:
- Evaluates and documents quality of finished goods and raw materials
- Reports quality conditions as needed
- Evaluates condition of the manufacturing facility and warehouse space to ensure compliance to regulatory and HACCP requirements
- Audits programs in support of quality objectives
- Maintains a clean and organized working environment
- Follows safety regulations. Participates in process improvement activities. Meets performance schedules
- Maintains product quality through adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Food Safety Preventive Controls, product specifications and quality procedures
- Participates in the maintenance and development of plant quality programs in support of HACCP
- Provides training and education of quality-based programs to manufacturing partners
- Demonstrates and understands safety as a core value and follows the key essentials to safety as set forth by our safety resolution; reinforces and coaches others to do the same
- Understand and follows established safety guidelines, consistently complies with all safety procedures (e.g. PPE, Lock Out Tag Out)
- Supports food safety, legality, and quality programs
- Maintains product quality through adherence to good manufacturing practices, Food Safety Preventative Controls, product specifications and quality procedures. Monitors and documents quality measures using analytical tools
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School/GED or one to two years’ experience in related field or combination of both education and experience
- Operation of manual and automated analytical equipment (1 year)
- Regulated food manufacturing environment with familiarity of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards (1 year)
- Scientific method and report writing (1 year)
- Gathering, recording, and reporting on operational and quality metrics, through manual or automated systems (1 year)
ADDITIONAL REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Mechanical/Technical Aptitude to troubleshoot minor equipment failures and make minor adjustments
- Math skills combined with the ability to perform and understand scientific based tests and results
- Knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft office, Word, Excel etc.
- Communicate and interact well with others in the laboratory and manufacturing environment
- Able to work over 40 hours, weekends, and flexible hours when business need arises
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and apply common sense of Good Laboratory Practices
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in food science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field preferred
- Working knowledge of food safety regulatory requirements and global standards, including Preventive Controls for Human Food (FDA CFR) and Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI)
- Experience with GFSI-recognized certification programs such as BRC and/or SQF preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS:
- Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 55 lbs. in an occasional manner.
- Must be able to grasp with fingers and hand for extended periods of time in a repetitive motion.
- Must be able to use 3-points of contact when climbing or descending stairs.
- Must be able to stoop, bend at knees, and/or crouch in a repetitive manner.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to work in environmental exposure including, but not limited to, freezer and noisy, cold, wet, or humid conditions of 34°F or below.
- Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic, and/or caustic chemicals.
- Occasional material exposure to moving mechanical parts and equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.).
