Summary of Role:

The Warehouse Lead plays a critical role in overseeing the day-to-day warehouse operations at Tandem Foods, ensuring the smooth flow of materials, adherence to safety and food quality standards, and inventory accuracy. This position serves as a hands-on leader responsible for directing warehouse staff and executing daily priorities. Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor, the Warehouse Lead is instrumental in creating an efficient, organized, and team-focused environment. This role is based in a fast-paced manufacturing facility and requires both physical involvement and operational oversight. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate daily warehouse activities, assigning tasks to team members.
  • Operate forklifts and related equipment to move, stage, and load materials safely.
  • Accurately process and document all inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in accordance with GMP, HACCP, and BRC standards.
  • Ensure compliance with FIFO procedures or other inventory protocols as instructed.
  • Conduct cycle counts and assist in resolving inventory variances using MRP or RF scanner systems.
  • Promote safety by following all plant rules and encouraging safe behavior across the team.
  • Oversee forklift inspections, charging, and maintenance schedules.
  • Assist in onboarding and training new warehouse team members.
  • Support cross-functional collaboration with production, quality, and logistics teams.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts for efficiency and workflow.
  • Complete any additional duties as assigned by Warehouse Supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations and inventory control procedures.
  • Proficient in using RF scanners and warehouse MRP systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret pick tickets, production schedules, and inventory reports.
  • Clear and effective communication skills; ability to lead by example.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable operating forklifts and pallet jacks in a high-traffic area.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills a plus.
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations and manufacturing standards (GMP, HACCP, BRC).

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of warehouse leadership or supervisory experience, preferably in a food manufacturing setting.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Forklift certification or extensive operating experience required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime or weekends as needed.
  • Basic computer literacy and ability to learn internal systems.
  • Must comply with all PPE and plant safety requirements.
