About the Position:

Under the supervision of the Quality Assurance Manager, the Sanitation Supervisor will oversee Sanitation and Microwave Associates to ensure efficient and successful operations and direct the cleaning and sanitation functions of the manufacturing plant and equipment, ensuring they comply with regulatory and organizational standards. Must be well-versed in the Quality standards set forth by the United States Department of Agriculture and other Regulatory agencies about processed meat products. This position will be required to provide clear and concise documentation reports daily regarding the operation, as well as the Good Manufacturing Practices of the plant and company personnel.

Summary of Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the sanitizing and cleanliness of all production equipment
  • Assist in maintaining an environment that allows for the safe and continuous manufacturing of quality food products in the cleanest and safest environment
  • Supervise and coordinate microwave room operations, including thawing, tempering, and cooking of meat products according to production schedules.
  • Ensure all products meet internal quality specifications and USDA/FDA regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor microwave equipment to ensure proper performance, temperature control, and calibration.
  • Train, supervise, and evaluate microwave operators and support staff.
  • Maintain accurate records of processing times, temperatures, and product flow for traceability and audits.
  • Lead a team of sanitation personnel in the cleaning of processing equipment, utensils, and the processing environment
  • Coordinate with Maintenance, QA, and Production teams to resolve sanitation-related issues
  • Supervise and direct the sanitation team to meet the demands of a busy production environment without any process interruptions
  • Comply with HACCP guidelines to ensure food safety
  • Operate within given SOP parameters that ensure desired food quality results are not jeopardized, and that customer specifications are met
  • Achieve successful Pre-Op inspections internally and by the USDA
  • Ensure that the necessary sanitation resources are provided and trained to fully support the operation
  • Provide leadership and direction for sanitation and Microwave personnel in their execution of responsibilities in sanitation tasks and objectives with a focus on overall food safety, performance, planning, scheduling, and cost control
  • Develop, implement, and promote safety programs and safe work practices through involvement in plant safety teams, programs, and initiatives
  • Promote sound employee relations within the department by developing and maintaining qualified personnel
  • Develop, promote, and support Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • Manage Sanitation Improvement Plan
  • Conduct internal auditing as needed
  • Personal responsibility for following safety rules, SOPs, and GMP guidelines
  • Any additional task set forth by Quality Management, within the scope and ability

Summary of Experience and Requirements:
  • A high school diploma is a requirement, and an ideal candidate will have an associate's degree, but a bachelor's degree is preferred in a related science background
  • Demonstrated thorough knowledge of OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards and regulatory compliance requirements in a [manufacturing/food production/logistics/etc.] environment.
  • Strong work ethic, communication skills in English, and ability to communicate clearly and concisely across departments
  • 3-5 Years of direct experience in the USDA or FDA sanitary process
  • 3 plus years leading a team of more than 10 people
  • Willingness to work 3rd shift
  • The position will have complete shift responsibility reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager and a dotted line to the Production and Logistics Manager.
  • A successful candidate will also have responsibility for the safety of the team
  • Successful candidate will have experience in developing or updating work instructions, SOPs, and will conduct mid-year and year-end reviews
  • KPI/metric focus with a bias towards action knowledge of SQF required
  • HACCP Certified preferred
  • USDA manufacturing exposure/experience is a plus
  • Strong computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to lift a maximum of 60 pounds
  • Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurement
  • Able to work in cold conditions that range from -1°F up to 45°F
  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug test as well as random drug tests as requested
  • This position will be considered as part of the business continuity plan to take on broader responsibility when new positions are created due to growth or promotional opportunity
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish (preferred but not required)
  • Understand and abide by all safety regulations, policies, and procedures set forth by Verde Farms.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays, if necessary
