Reporting to the Vice President of Farm Engagement & Innovation, the Director of Pullet Operations will develop the strategy to expand our network of pullet farms. You will develop and oversee the processes and operations that take care of the youngest and fluffiest of our girls. You will lead process improvements and communicate with a variety of stakeholders to ensure our girls are set up for success in the first weeks of life.

What You’ll Do:

  • Act like an owner and develop the strategy to expand our fledgling pullet operation
  • Lead pullet capacity planning by leveraging an understanding of growth plans
  • Drive continuous improvement by innovating, improving, and reviewing the SOPs for pullet operations
  • Help care for our girls by overseeing all logistical aspects of pullet rearing including vaccine ordering and shipping, feed ordering and invoice reconciliation, and transportation to and from farms
  • Drive operation success by developing a framework to manage the pullet planning master flow. Once mastered, this will become your baby
  • Develop, support, and scale the Pullet team. Provide professional development, regular communications, and guidance to this team regularly
  • Manage the pullet contracts between Vital Farms and our rearing and lay farmers
  • Oversee the integration of pullet planning into Unitas
  • Partner with our accounting team to care for our farmers and ensure correct payments
  • Develop relationships with our hatchery partners to ensure flawless chick ordering process
  • Proactively communicate with our external stakeholders

What You Bring to the Table:

  • 10+ years of experience project management and developing strategy
  • You are an organized, detail focused individual
  • You have a Bachelor of Science degree and/or relative experience
  • You demonstrate strong communication skills
  • You are personally committed to ensuring all milestones are met on time
  • You can manage multiple, time sensitive, priorities and deadlines
  • You have the ability to do creative problem-solving
