Finding the right place to grow your career isn’t (over) easy, so we’re here to help by sharing a few reasons why the grass is greener at Vital Farms. We think you’ll appreciate our focus on Conscious Capitalism, which drives business decisions that benefit all our stakeholders (leading to even better business results). You might be drawn to our innovative approach and refusal to settle for the “way things have always been done.” Or you could find it exciting to grow your skills while working for an industry-leading brand. Whether you’re into our values, our brand, or our egg-cellent puns, we hope you’ll join our Crew and help us change the world 108 square feet at a time!

You know that rush that you get when your processes are streamlined, interconnected, squared away and automated, allowing you and everyone on your team to make data-driven decisions in real-time? Yeah, you do. As someone with your background and level of experience, you bring a systems-oriented approach to accounting procedures that takes fast-growing organizations to an entirely different level. That’s why we want to talk to you.

You see, we’re looking for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented Manager, SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting at Vital Farms because we’re on a mission to change the food industry one ethically-sourced ingredient at a time. That means new ways of thinking and an innovative vision for integrating our systems for maximum efficiency.

Reporting to the Chief Accountant, the Manager, SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting will be responsible for defining and executing world class accounting and financial reporting practices, adherence to SEC Regulations S-X and S-K, U.S. GAAP and SOX Certification Compliance. Working closely with crew members across the organization, you’ll provide technical accounting guidance that impacts the framework of reporting and financial statements for the entire company. Your work will streamline processes and software solutions, so that we can spend less time gathering the data and spend more time connecting the data dots for real-time decision making.

Energized, organized, and with exceptional communication skills, you know how to persuade senior leaders, rally teams internally, and get projects across the finish line. In addition to providing technical accounting guidance and participating in our month end closing process (making sure they are timely and accurate), here are some other responsibilities you’ll be prioritizing on a regular basis:

What You'll Do:

  • Identify gaps in compliance with disclosure controls
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with GAAP standards and/or regulatory rules, including implementation of any changes
  • SEC Reporting through Active Disclosure related to 8-K, 10-Q, 10-K and other filings as required
  • Share based compensation and Employee Share Purchase Program accounting (ESPP), analysis and reporting
  • Assist with the development and refinement of financial and operational reports
  • Interact and communicate effectively with the Accounting team and other internal/external parties at various levels to achieve and exceed our reporting goals each month and quarter
  • Enhance our procedures to add efficiencies in our closing and reporting processes, working cross functionally with various business partners.
  • Work with our external reporting support team to prepare financial statements for our earnings release and 10Q/10K.
  • Leading the implementation of new accounting standards, changes to reporting requirements due to organizational changes and merger/acquisition due diligence
  • Complete special assignments as required by the CAO and CFO

What You Bring to the Table:

  • First, you bring a big ol’ helping of passion for ethically sourced, nutritious food and purpose-driven brands. And you bring extra napkins.
  • Leveling for this role will be as follows:
    • Senior Manager, SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting – bachelor’s degree in accounting, 5+ years of experience in leading a team, and 3-5 years’ experience in a public company and an external reporting environment.

    • Manager, SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting– bachelor’s degree in accounting, 3+ years of experience in leading a team, and 1-3 years’ experience in a public company and an external reporting environment.

  • Currently licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Experience with Big 4 accounting firm a plus
  • Experience with preparation of financial statements in compliance with U.S. GAAP
  • MS office skills, including Word and Excel, a must; experience with NetSuite and Active Disclosure a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly detailed-oriented and well organized
  • You believe “we” is greater than “me”. You know the power of teamwork and celebrate the work of others before your own.
  • You give a sh*t. about the animals. About relationships. About keeping things real. You believe in acting like an owner and making Vital Farms a place to be proud of.
  • You hold yourself to the highest standards and you strive to improve yourself and others each and every day, even Saturdays, when you organize your pantry in different ways - alphabetically, by food category, by product height, and by expiration date - to determine which method delivers the perfect mix of access and geometric efficiency
  • You can walk in someone else’s boots – You seek to understand other’s viewpoints and think that you get to better answers by sitting on the same side of the table.
  • Honest conversations don’t ruffle your feathers and you don’t walk on eggshells. If you see something in the organization that can be improved, you’re not afraid to speak up and you expect your colleagues to do the same.

What We Bring to the Table

  • Be part of a movement to bring ethically produced food to the table
  • Work in a Mission-focused environment alongside passionate colleagues
  • Competitive pay and benefits
