Finding the right place to grow your career isn’t (over) easy, so we’re here to help by sharing a few reasons why the grass is greener at Vital Farms. We think you’ll appreciate our focus on Conscious Capitalism, which drives business decisions that benefit all our stakeholders (leading to even better business results). You might be drawn to our innovative approach and refusal to settle for the “way things have always been done.” Or you could find it exciting to grow your skills while working for an industry-leading brand. Whether you’re into our values, our brand, or our egg-cellent puns, we hope you’ll join our Crew and help us change the world 108 square feet at a time!

You like to make things happen and work with fun, super smart, and, most importantly, off-the-charts caring people who give a sh*t about what we do, how we do it, and the impact we have*. You are known for pursuing solutions at the drop of a hat, bringing everyone together, and being the one who plans out all vacation details. Previous companies didn’t know how they existed without you because of your ability to collaborate, drive results, bring order to chaos, and deliver with a positive can-do attitude. At Vital Farms, we are building out our Strategy Execution Team to build our strategy execution capabilities, take on tricky cross-functional projects, work with our awesome crew (see *description* above), and make stuff happen. Note: If you just like making pretty Project Plans, and don’t like bringing them to life then read no further.

What You’ll Do:

  • Drive forward commercialization and broader strategy projects; you get excited about being brought into the strategic vision and even more excited about getting into the details and bringing new products and projects from idea to launch
  • Lead projects through our stage-gate process; you love clearly defining and following a process and are also comfortable thinking flexibly and coloring outside the lines (i.e., creating a custom process) where needed. This includes but is not limited to:
    • Working with cross-functional partners to establish project plans (including timelines) and execute them to completion, with an eye on critical path milestones
    • Getting into the details with cross-functional partners to make sure we are making the right decisions, including making trade-offs to best serve the broader business and stakeholder objectives, and bringing others along while you do it
    • Communicating and collaborating, including regularly meeting with stakeholders to ensure transparency on progress, status, change, issues, and decisions
    • Building strong relationships with all project stakeholders, including the Senior Leadership Team
    • Actively managing meetings: proactively send out pre-reads/agenda, efficiently run meetings, and reliably send out recaps
    • Looking around corners: Forecasting risks or potential hurdles, developing recommendations and managing communication appropriately
    • Executing with excellence: Delivering project results on time, on budget, and with a high-quality level
  • Activate Portfolio Management best practices (e.g., recommend priorities and trade-offs to ensure we meet – or exceed – our goals)
  • Support the Strategy Execution team in bringing our PMO, Portfolio / Program / Project Management game to the next level by implementing best practices and thinking critically
  • Scope and plan programs/projects (from setting goals and objectives to KPIs), with just enough rigor but not too much, and execute with excellence (but don’t let perfection be the enemy of the good). In doing so ensure optimal return on investment and delegate effectively
  • Support Strategy Execution team with developing PM skills throughout the broader org
  • Identify ways to improve how we work and take waste (because time is our more valuable asset) out of the system; work cross-functionally and drive change management to make the changes happen and stick (think Lean, Kaizen)
  • Continuously improve; actively listen to all project stakeholders to gather and prioritize incremental process improvements

What You Bring to the Table:

  • BA/BS degree required
  • CAPM or PMP certification a plus
  • Experienced project manager (3+ years) with a proven track record of managing a broad range of commercialization projects
  • Consumer packaged goods and commercialization experience preferred
  • Familiarity with Microsoft suite products
  • Monthly travel as needed for specific project related conversations, company onboarding and team meetings
  • Ability to operate in an environment of ambiguity– here at Vital Farms, no two projects or days are the same!
  • Comfortable navigating projects at the 30,000 ft and 100 ft levels
  • You love process but can also think flexibly about a process and what purpose that process serves
  • You like to test (and scale quickly) new approaches and are continuously looking to improve things
  • You have a team player mindset and experience leading cross-functional teams (across all levels) to do seemingly impossible things
  • You have ability to inspire confidence in others and provide solid foundation for great communication and engaging others to follow a clear vision
  • Ability to influence at all levels
  • Proven Organizational Change Management experience and stakeholder management skills:
    • you listen actively and share your thoughts
    • you run hard and inspire others to take them along
    • you think out of the box and can problem-solve your way out of the box
    • you balance the strategic and tactical
    • you have a bias for action (i.e., you ask “how can we?” vs. “can we?”) and look before you leap
    • you excel in ambiguous situations and add a little order to the chaos
    • you can prioritize and work in an agile environment
  • You know the power of teamwork and celebrate the work of others before your own
  • You give a sh*t – You believe in acting like an owner and making Vital Farms a place to be proud of.
  • You raise the standards – You know growth can be hard, but you strive to improve yourself and others each day
  • You can walk in someone else’s boots – You seek to understand other’s viewpoints and think that you get to better answers by sitting on the same side of the table
  • You don’t walk on eggshells – You’re not afraid to leave the bullsh*t behind and have honest conversations
