The Director of Consumer Insights will establish and advance the consumer insights function as a thought leader, significantly influencing business strategy and outcomes. Working closely with the category management team and independently, the Director will proactively assess the current and future state of consumers to ensure alignment with business objectives. This includes collaborating on media plans, portfolios, channel strategies, and identifying consumer segments. Effective stakeholder communication and collaboration across functions are essential for success in this role. The Director will report to the Chief Marketing Officer and be part of the Marketing Leadership Team at Vital Farms.

What You'll Do

  • People leader: Continue to build a growing team that currently has one Senior Manager report, and serve as marketing function and companywide leader on the Marketing Leadership Team
  • Strategic thought partner: Collaborate on and drive 1, 3, and 5-year strategic plans with marketing, investor relations, and category
  • Business leader: Drive visibility and strategic conversations on the implications of insights to improve long-term and short-term business results
  • Capabilities builder: Develop consumer insights learning plan, processes, system, and ongoing approach to optimization that address current, and evolving, business needs across the organization
  • Brand Builder: Act as ongoing and involved thought partner for strategic and tactical planning throughout the year
  • Thought Leader: Stay updated on industry trends and emerging markets to provide proactive insights, maintaining Vital Farms' competitive edge
  • Analytical Driver: Serves as thought partner to Senior Manager and provides guidance on research design and data analytics to drive actionable insights

What You Bring to the Table

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or another related field; MBA a plus but not required.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in consumer insights for consumer goods brands, preferably in consumables experiences.
  • Experienced people leader and team builder: Demonstrated capability in leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Analytical expertise: Proficiency in panel data analysis, predictive modeling, and leveraging POS data to uncover meaningful patterns and trends.
  • Strong storytelling and influencing skills: Ability to translate data into actionable insights through compelling data visualization and gain cross-functional alignment..
  • Sprint in the gray area: Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive clarity in complex situations. And even find this energizing!
  • Stakeholder influence: Assertive and bold leadership style with the ability to influence within the organizational values framework.
  • Ability to travel regularly to company and project meetings as needed for the business (1-2 times per month on average)
