Your Role:
The General Ledger. It’s the central nervous system of accounting where all the numbers come together and balance out in beautiful harmony. As the Senior GL Accountant, you’re the gatekeeper of those numbers. You organize, synthesize, and prioritize those numbers and reporting processes so that you can simultaneously speak to the minutiae and see the big picture without missing a beat. In other words, you’re the first stop and the last stop whenever there’s a number that’s out of place, and you’re the kind of person who won’t stop until everything can be accounted for.
Reporting to the Senior Manager of accounting, your primary responsibility will be supporting the company’s General Ledger accounting processes and procedures, contributing to the timely completion of our period close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting requirements. As a relatively new public company, we have critical deadlines that must be met, which is why your time management and prioritization skills need to be as sharp as a chicken’s talon.
What You’ll Do:
- Support accounting period close in accordance with US GAAP for areas of functional responsibility which may include preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, analysis, and assistance with internal control and process documentation.
- Assist with systems and process enhancements including financial lender managed services, ERP, financial close, etc.
- Collaborate and partner with internal stakeholders and external resources
- Work closely with AR/AP to provide CAPEX and coding guidance in addition to processes and procedural improvements, where necessary, to maximize efficiency of the accounting department.
- Own the fixed assets and lease processes for the company while identifying areas of improvement
- Support external audit requirements including preparation of audit schedules
- Participate in SOX 404 maintaining and enhancing internal controls, policies and procedures and the related documentation and compliance.
- Engage with your leader and peers to make recommendations on process improvements through structured problem solving and data analysis
- Become an expert in our systems and tools, leveraging them to efficiently do your work
- Drive improvements to the internal accounting processes through automation and perform other duties as assigned.
What You Bring to the Table:
- Bachelor’s degree in an Accounting, Finance or related field
- CPA certification a plus
- 4+ years of relevant professional experience is required (combination of private and public experience preferred), CPG or retail a plus
- In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP and other areas related to financial reporting required
- Excellent analytical, creative problem solving, organizational and project management skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills that support effective communication cross functionally – you can break down complex financials in a way that all levels of crew understand
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required (must be proficient with vlookups & conditional statements, pivot tables, data analysis, data visualization, what-if-analysis)
- Ability to travel 10% annually for company onboarding trips, team offsites and other business needs
