Your Role:

The Pullet Health Specialist will play a pivotal role in ensuring our birds receive the best care program to keep them healthy. You will maintain inventory, ordering, and delivering supplies from a central warehouse in Springfield, MO. Reporting to the Pullet Administration and Process Manager, you will assist our support techs and farm compliance team with organizing supplies and reporting results for monitoring the health of our birds. Your efforts will contribute to the success of our birds performance on the lay farms, and providing them with lasting protection against health challenges.

What You'll Do:

  • Use the vaccine, swab, and testing schedule to maintain stock levels of inventory at both warehouse and on farm
  • Make orders with manufacturers to re-stock warehouse
  • Schedule and make deliveries of supplies to farms based on flock schedules
  • Assist with Administering Vaccines when applicable
  • Act as point of contact with laboratory for managing sample deliveries and reporting results to the pullet team
  • Work with farm compliance team to ensure all testing and reporting is in line with regulatory guidance
  • Update health program based on guidance from veterinary team, especially regarding new health challenges affecting the poultry industry
  • Collaborate with pullet team to continuously improve the health program based on bird performance

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelor's degree in Animal Science or related field; will consider experience as substitute for education
  • 4+ years’ experience in the poultry industry, veterinary practice, or similar roles, with a strong understanding of agricultural production systems and practices.
  • Experience with cold chain, temp checking and vaccine best practices preferred
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and coordinate cross-functional teams.
  • Experience managing inventory with great attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Flexibility to travel as needed to rural locations and work occasional weekends or evenings as needed.
  • Ability to travel 10% for company onboarding, team meetings and other business needs
  • Proficient in MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

At Vital Farms, compensation decisions are dependent upon a variety of factors, which may include, but are not limited to, skill level, experience, education, training, market demands, and business needs. A reasonable estimate of the current starting annual base salary for this position is $65,000 - $85,000. Please keep in mind that hiring at the maximum end of the range would not be typical in order to allow for potential continued future salary growth.
