Your Role:
Reporting to the Director of Logistics, the Warehouse Operation Lead is the advocate for and challenger of the 3PL operator at our main distribution hub. This person is the first level of support for all issues impacting Vital Farms’ operations and is expected to continually work / communicate with 3PL personnel and Vital Farms’ Supply Chain and Operations resources. This includes proactively identifying and implementing solutions to improve service and / or lower cost, which requires a strong understanding of operations, finance, and systems / data. In addition, this person will assist in inventory management activities at the Vital Farms production facility (ECS).
What You'll Do:
- 3PL Warehouse Operations – monitor and analyze Vital Farms service and quality metrics to identify potential breakdowns and/or continuous improvement opportunities in the following processes:
- Inbound appointment scheduling, receiving, and pallet put-away
- Outbound appointment scheduling, picking, and shipping
- Case pick
- Inventory hold management
- Customer-specific requirement management
- Sanitation and pest control
- Inventory control
- Overages, shortages, and damages
- Note: First 9-12 months this will be ~20% of the responsibilities, transitioning to ~60% after that
- Production-related Inventory Control – boots-on-the-ground support of the Inventory Management team at ECS Springfield; completing inventory counts as required, reconciling inventory across multiple Vital Farms systems, and communicating regularly with impacted internal teams

- Finance & Budget Management – build an maintain an understanding of financial drivers and impacts from the site operations; communicate effectively and work to address with Vital Farms Finance team and key 3PL operator personnel
- System Support – support system communication and reporting between the 3PL operator and Vital Farms, including but not limited to EDI and system-to-system inventory reconciliation
- Data Analysis – identify operational efficiencies to increase service and/or drive down costs by continually analyzing 3PL and Vital Farms data
What You Bring to the Table:
- Candidate must be located in the Springfield MO area
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Supply Chain, or related field
- 3+ years experience in a supply chain / operations role
- You are able to travel 10-20% of the time as needed.
- You possess and demonstrate the following required skills / traits:
- Detail oriented with the ability to act with a sense of urgency
- Ability to develop and manage effective working relationships
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Demonstrated ability to work and succeed independently with minimal oversight
- Ability to understand interrelated supply chain concepts and processes
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office
- Ideal candidates possess and demonstrate the following desired skills / traits:
- Strong understanding of inventory control and reconciliation processes
- Financial acumen and general understanding of accounting
- Demonstrated ability to collect and analyze data and draw appropriate conclusions to develop plans for action
- Experience performing analysis in reporting / dashboard tools (PowerBI, Tableau, etc.)

At Vital Farms, compensation decisions are dependent upon a variety of factors, which may include, but are not limited to, skill level, experience, education, training, market demands, and business needs. A reasonable estimate of the current starting annual base salary for this position is $50.000 - $70,000. Please keep in mind that hiring at the maximum end of the range would not be typical in order to allow for potential continued future salary growth.
