Training Specialist - Hiring Days and Nights

The Training Specialist will be the designated in-person trainer for all processing job tasks. The Training Specialist will take the lead in measuring and documenting testing of the Processing Tier Performance system, based on approved testing via the Shift Supervisor for their respective shift. The owner of this role will foster and contribute toward the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives and will assist as needed in the training of crew members in other areas (inventory control/auditing, ensuring product quality standards are met and maintained, plant sanitation, etc.) as deemed necessary or assigned. The Crew Training Specialist will own, maintain, document, and conduct Crew Member training, equitability in the cross-training of the Crew and will ensure and uphold Vital Farms policies and guidelines utilizing on-the-job training and documentation, while also performing impromptu processing audits to maintain that all SOP’s, WI’s, and/or OPL’s are being adhered to and reporting up any failures to maintain the aforementioned processes. The Crew Training Specialist will foster Vital Farms values through their own conduct and will provide themselves as a bastion to Crew Members by setting an example of professionalism and dedication by maintaining model attendance, performance, adherence of policies and guidelines, and through the obvious practice of a Crew support function. The Crew Training Specialist will report directly to the Plant Production Manager and indirectly to the Shift Supervisor of their respective, assigned shift.

  • 2-2-3 schedule: 2-week cycle
    • Week 1: 2 days on / 2 days off / 3 days on
    • Week 2: 2 days off / 2 days on / 3 days off
  • Shifts: 12 hour shifts
    • Day Crew – 6am to 6pm
    • Night Crew – 6pm to 6am

What You'll Do

  • Maintenance and upkeep of the all shift cross-training matrix and signed training checklist for all crew members
  • Strategic partnering with the Safety and Training Supervisor, Shift Supervisors, and Leads to facilitate training and to capture and control training targets, as necessitated by the training matrix and the specific needs of each shift
  • Scheduling and completion of the training activities for Crew Members
  • Routine auditing of processing tasks to ensure SOP, WI, and/or OPL compliance
  • Daily contribution toward a submission of a weekly training summary
  • Routine, daily education and auditing therein of employee proficiency in the understanding of company goals and metrics
  • Data collection, as it relates to training, toward company KPI’s and any other company metrics
  • Maintenance of Crew training documentation, storage, and organization
  • Recording and correction of deficits in efficiency due to training necessity and/or non-adherence of approved training/process documentation
  • The incorporation of any continuous improvement related project work into training regimen as well as SOP/WI/OPL documentation, such as decision trees, center lining, etc. or any other training aids that have been provided
  • Report out on individual crew member training status to Shift Supervisors, Leads, and Production Manager
  • Assisting in the creation of new SOP’s and OPL’s to support new processes, implementations, projects, or capital investments
  • Will complete other duties as assigned by the Plant Production Manager

What You Bring to the Table

  • Must be able to speak, read and write in English for safety reasons
  • 1 year of work experience in production/manufacturing
  • Basic math skills. Adding. Subtracting. Basic division.
