Your Role:

The Distribution Center Manager, Refrigerated will lead all cold chain warehousing, storage, and logistics operations at our newest manufacturing and distribution facility, Vital Crossroads, opening in Q1 2027. This role is critical to launching a high performing, food safe, and people centered distribution operation from the ground up.

This leader will play a key role in pre-opening readiness, including training at our Springfield, Missouri egg processing facility, before transitioning to full ownership of onsite operations in Seymour, Indiana.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead all daily refrigerated distribution center operations, including receiving, storage, inventory control, order fulfillment, and outbound shipping
  • Build, hire, and develop a high performing team, including supervisors and hourly crew
  • Establish and maintain food safety, cold chain integrity, OSHA, and regulatory compliance standards
  • Own operational KPIs related to safety, quality, service level, inventory accuracy, labor productivity, and cost control
  • Partner cross functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, EHS, Supply Chain, People and Transportation teams
  • Lead SOP development, training programs, and standard work to ensure consistent, scalable operations
  • Oversee equipment readiness, maintenance coordination, vendor relationships, and fleet interfaces
  • Manage budgets, labor planning, and performance to financial targets
  • Serve as a visible, hands-on leader who models Vital Farms values and people-first culture
  • Support network wide initiatives and best-practice sharing across sites

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in warehouse or distribution operations, ideally in refrigerated or food environments
  • Proven experience leading teams in high-volume, safety-sensitive operations, ASRS knowledge is a plus
  • Strong working knowledge of food safety, OSHA, and cold storage best practices
  • Experience launching or scaling operations is strongly preferred
  • Comfort working onsite in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
  • Willingness to relocate to, or commute within reasonable distance of, Seymour, Indiana
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 50% during the first year for training and ramp up; ~10–15% thereafter

At Vital Farms, compensation decisions are dependent upon a variety of factors, which may include, but are not limited to, skill level, experience, education, training, market demands, and business needs. A reasonable estimate of the current starting annual base salary for this position is $100,00 - $120,000. Please keep in mind that hiring at the maximum end of the range would not be typical in order to allow for potential continued future salary growth.
